Papa's Pit Stop - Fueling our Future: OCPS / SCPS Summer Youth Meal Initiative

Dear Community Members, Partners, and Neighbors,

As the school year winds down, and we head into the warm summer months, many families face a hidden challenge. For thousands of children who rely on school lunch programs, summer vacation doesn't just mean a break from classes—it also means a break from consistent, nutritious meals.

To bridge this gap, Papa Diesel's BBQ alongside community sponsors, is incredibly proud to announce the launch of the Papa's Pit Stop youth meal program initiative for Summer 2026.

What is Papa's Pit Stop?

The Papa's Pit Stop is a site-based summer food initiative designed to provide free, nutritious meals to youth throughout the season. Combining the slow-cooked, comfort-food expertise of Papa Diesel's BBQ with healthy, balanced options, we aim to make refueling both accessible and delicious for local kids.

Our Mission: ensure that no child in our community goes hungry this summer, providing them with the high-quality, hearty nourishment they need to grow, play, and thrive.

Eligibility: Free and open to all children and teens (ages 18 and under)—must have school ID or current report card

The Food: Hot, fresh meals prepared with the utmost care, utilizing quality ingredients to ensure balanced nutrition that appeals to kids.

Driven by Community, Powered by Collaboration

While Papa Diesel's BBQ is firing up the smokers and anchoring the kitchen, the heartbeat of this program relies on our local networks. An initiative of this scale is a mass undertaking. We are incredibly grateful to our community members, non-profit groups and faith-based organizations that have already helped. However we are still far from our $30,000 goal to feed 10,000 kids.
